GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) is the correct terminology for fibreglass which is made up using polyester resin and emulsion bound glass strand fibres these fibres are consolidated with a catalysed polyester resin and randomly arranged to create a strong and durable textile composite. The Fibreflex resin system has been developed by Ben Fry and manufactured exclusively for Fibrespan use only. This product is our everyday roofing system that is used on around 80% of our roofing installations. This is applied to an OSB (oriented strand board) timber deck, which is cold-applied without the use of flame or heat Our roofing installation process ensures that every roof is constructed to stand the test of time and whatever the British weather can throw at it. When removing an existing flat roof back to the supporting structure, which in most cases are timber joists, allowing us to form a new roof deck using an 11mm baseboard, VCL (vapour control barrier) 125 mm PIR insulation followed by an 18 mm tongue and grooved (OSB) board on top, we apply our own hand-made fibreglass profiled trims which are manufactured in our own workshop. These trims are installed to all the permitter edges to make sure the roof has nice smooth perimeter lines, the main timber deck area of the roof is covered using a Fibreflex polyester resin-based system which is reinforced with with a 450 gram per M2 or 600 gram per M2 emulsion bound strand matt creating no joins or seems across the entire roof. This will then allow us to apply an isophthalic waxed finishing top coat with is a tough protective uv stable layer which can be specified to a colour of your choice, all of our flat roofing refurbishments comply to building regulations document.
